About coaching Coaching is a professional development tool that is used to increase self-awareness and responsibility in people. It is a style of conversation and listening that encourages growth in people. It is a process that leads to deeper insight in your own behaviour and thinking. We can only control what we are aware of; what we are not aware of controls us. From more reflection, better understanding and conscious living flows better decisionmaking, growth and fulfilment.In coaching sessions we, together, identify what outcomes you would like to see from the coaching process, what your current reality is, what new perspectives and options are helpful and what actions you want to commit to in future. The conversation typically has a reflection phase, an exploration phase, a discovery phase and a commitment and planning phase. An International Coach Federation survey (2009) of over 2,000 coaching clients from 64 countries showed that companies can expect up to 7 times return on their investment. Coaching is relevant to the modern world of business because it is holistic and adaptive. It is a method that respects people as individuals. I use the Integral Coaching method as illustrated below. For more information read Joanne Hunt's Introduction to Integral coaching. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT ANALYSIS (PDA) I am an accredited custodian of the PDA assessment tool. The PDA assessment is a powerful tool with more than 50 years of studies based on proven theories and statistics. It is certified for its application throughout the world. It analyses skills, strengths, areas for development, competencies, decision making style, leadership style, energy level, persuasive ability, analytical ability, sales style, motivation level, among other information of great value, for any process of people development. I am authorised to use the PDA online system to register clients for the PDA, to generate Job profiles and Competencies for specific positions and more.
